Bell Tower at Global Trade Shows

ost of the shows on this page sit on the supply side — Yiwu, Yongkang, Guangzhou, where we source and vet the factories behind the catalogue. Novi Sad is the other end of that line. It is where our buyers are. For six days in May, the largest agribusiness event in Southeast Europe brought roughly 1,200 exhibitors from about 40 countries and more than 100,000 visitors to the Novi Sad Fairgrounds — and Bell Tower was in the room, represented on the ground by our Serbia colleague, Damir Bulatović.

The fair has run since 1931 and remains the reference point for agriculture across the Balkans. This year’s partner country was the Czech Republic, with a strong line in machinery, livestock, crop protection and — increasingly — renewable energy in agriculture. Damir worked the floor the way this market actually moves: distributor by distributor, conversation by conversation, catalogue in hand.

He carried three. Our wholesale tools catalogue, and two new Serbian-language editions that show where Bell Tower is heading next — a fertilizer catalogue (Katalog đubriva) and an agrivoltaics catalogue (Agrivoltaika) on solar energy in agriculture. The timing was deliberate: with the fair itself putting renewable energy and input supply at the centre of its programme, those two books landed in front of exactly the buyers they were written for.

None of this is about a banner over a booth. It is about being physically present in the market we serve, speaking the local language, and handing a real distributor a real catalogue across a table. That is how a name on a PDF becomes a supplier someone calls back. The shows in China decide what we can offer; a fair like Novi Sad decides who we offer it to.

The matchmaking conference is invitation-driven and slot-limited — buyers pre-register a sourcing brief and the organisers pair them with vetted Chinese manufacturers. Our brief listed garden tools, power tools, and metalwork (园艺工具、电动工具、五金制品).

A few conversations went somewhere immediately — sample requests, MOQ negotiations, factory visits scheduled. Others were closed politely after five minutes. The fair is as much about deciding who not to work with as who to bring back to the catalogue.

Bell Tower has been operating out of the Yiwu / Yongkang corridor since 2014. The booth list shifts every year, but the names you trust stay where they are. Walking the fair is partly scouting, partly catching up with people you already know.

The conversations that matter most are the unscheduled ones — a tea at a familiar booth, a factory rep showing a prototype, a supplier asking which European certifications to chase next. None of it makes a press release, but all of it shapes the next twelve months.
